ONLINE THERAPY FOR YOUNG ADULTS

The purpose of therapy is to create sustainable, positive change; this begins with a non-judgemental examination of one's life.

The client's job is to be as authentic as possible – to let go of their "script" (what they want to think, feel, believe) in favour of their reality (what they actually think, feel, believe).

There are inevitable times in our life where we must grow, change, evolve, etc.

In other words, we must transcend our way of operating in the world in some manner. My clients tend to be young adults who are struggling to do just that. They often enter therapy with some understanding of what their "issues" are (anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, ADHD, addiction, etc.), but can't seem to do much about it. Together we deconstruct the various barriers in their life, and within themselves (ie. their "resistance"), that prevent them from becoming the person they want to be.

When I work with clients I draw upon my knowledge of, and interest in a number of common therapeutic modalities, such as:

  • Existential Therapy
  • Person-centred therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Attachment Theory
  • Behavioural psychology

Your defense mechanisms are welcome, even encouraged, in therapy; that is the best way to get to know them.
